Investor Visa Program
From 1 April 2025, New Zealand will implement significant reforms to its investor visa program, aiming to attract high-value investors and support economic growth.
Key Updates to the Active Investor Plus Visa:
1. Two New Investment Categories:
Growth Category:
Minimum investment of NZD $5 million over a 3-year period.Balanced Category:
Minimum investment of NZD $10 million over a 5-year period.
2. Expanded Investment Options:
The Balanced Category will now allow investments in a broader range of assets, including:
Bonds
Property developments (new residential)
Commercial and industrial property (new or existing)
3. Simplified Investment Process:
The former weighting system has been removed, making the program easier to understand and navigate.
4. Reduced Immigration Requirements:
Applicants making more active investments will benefit from reduced time-in-New Zealand requirements and other simplified immigration obligations.
5. Removal of English Language Requirement:
The removal of the English language requirement will increase accessibility to a wider pool of global investors.
