Important Update: Employer Accreditation Renewals and Interim Accreditations
Learn about recent issues with interim accreditations, clarifications on expiry dates, and how Immigration New Zealand is addressing these concerns for employers renewing their accreditations.
Kia ora everyone,
We've received important information from Immigration New Zealand (INZ) regarding employer accreditation renewals and interim accreditations. As your trusted immigration advisors, we at Surani Associates want to keep you informed about these developments and how they might affect you.
Interim Accreditation Issues
INZ has identified a problem where some employers who applied to renew their accreditation didn't receive interim accreditation when their current accreditation expired. Here's what you need to know:
Eligibility: Employers may qualify for a three-month interim accreditation if their accreditation expires while waiting for their renewal application outcome.
Current situation: In some cases, interim accreditation wasn't granted when it should have been.
INZ's response: They're contacting affected employers and working to resolve this issue quickly.
Impact on employers: If your accreditation expires during the renewal process, you won't be able to apply for a Job Check or send an Accredited Employer Work Visa job token to a migrant until you receive interim accreditation. However, you can continue to employ migrants currently working for you on a valid visa.
Clarification on Accreditation Expiry Dates
INZ has updated their website to clarify when employer accreditations expire:
Expiry date: Accreditations expire ON the expiry date, which differs from how visas expire.
Renewal applications: You must apply before the expiry date to renew your accreditation.
Recent submissions: INZ is aware that some renewal applications were submitted on the expiry date, after the accreditation had already expired. They will contact these employers to discuss individual circumstances.
What This Means for Employers
Check your expiry date: Ensure you know exactly when your accreditation expires.
Apply early: Submit your renewal application well before the expiry date to avoid any issues.
Stay informed: Keep an eye out for communications from INZ if you've recently submitted a renewal application.
Seek advice: If you're unsure about your accreditation status or renewal process, don't hesitate to contact us for guidance.
